Shirin Ebadi

Hi dear readers! This time our teacher of ICT's tell us to find some information about different people that have win Nobel Prizes in the last years. I have chose the Iranian Shirin Ebadi , who has gone a Peace prize in 2003 for her efforts for democracy and human rights especially for the rights of women, children and political prisoners. From my point of vew, she is always ready to help and she love the equality in people, and this has made me to write about his life.

She would be the first person in the history of the Nobel Prize whose award has been forcibly seized by state authorities. Also she became the President of Bench 24 of the City Court and she is the first woman in the history of Iranian justice to have served as a judge.

Dr. Ebadi was one of the first femal judges in Iran and as a lawyer, she has taken on many controversial cases defending political dissidents and as a result has been arrested numerous times.

She used her time of unemployment to write several books and she had many articles published in Iranian journals.

After receiving a lawyer's licence, she accepted to defend many cases. Some were national cases. Among them, she represented the families of the serial murders victims.

She also participated in some press-related cases, she took on a large number of social cases, too, including child abuse and she also teach at university. Each year, a number of students from outside Iran join her human rights training courses.

In addition  she has also established many non-governmental organizations in Iran, including the Million Signatures Campaign, demanding and to legal discrimination against women in Iranian law.

I have found a video where Shirin Ebadi gives an interview and we can highlight the most important sentence where she said "I will defend my client". I hope you would like it.
